We received word from the Bishop and the annual conference that we are allowed to restart in-person worship with some new guidelines. The Team of Stewards met last night to discuss the in-person worship logistics and when we should start. We’ve always said the conversation isn’t so much “can” we, but “should” we. With the Bishop and his Pandemic Task Team’s discernment and some of our schools returning, we felt that not only can we, but we should return to in-person services following the guidelines they shared. However, we are still in uncertain times and want to encourage everyone to stay safe and make the best decisions for your family.
Here are a some of the guidelines you need to know if planning on attending beginning this Sunday, August 9, 2020.
*We are required to wear masks for the entire service in accordance with the governor’s ordinance. If you don’t have one, we will have some for you to use.
*There will be sanitizer at the entrance of the sanctuary for your use as well. Please sanitize on your way in.
*Please enter the sanctuary and be seated with limited congregating. We have the chairs spaced out 6 feet for social distancing. Family groups are able to sit together.
*No choir and no congregational singing. However, we are allowed to have someone leading us in song. Those at home watching on Facebook are still welcomed to join in.
*Offering plates will not be passed, but there are red buckets by the rear door for God’s tithes and your offerings.
*We are asked to have no more than 25% capacity of the sanctuary for the next four weeks. Then if all goes well it is raised to 50% capacity.
*Review the Safety Scale and Questionnaire upon entering the church. It will be posted on the yellow sign in front of the church.
In addition to these from the Bishop’s task force we are adding:
*Taking your temperature as you enter.
*We will exit out row by row at the end of the service.
*We will not offer a nursery, but we do invite all our families to join us. Jesus said, “let the little ones come”, so please be understanding as we want to welcome the next generation into worship.
*We will not have any Sunday School classes, small groups, or other gatherings at this time.
We will try our best to provide a clean and safe worship service. We all completely understand if you just aren’t ready to be in a crowd and I believe God will too. In fact, to keep our attendance below the 25% capacity we encourage some of you that have enjoyed the online service or worshipping in your pajamas to continue to do so. We will continue to stream our service on Facebook for anyone unable to attend and post it on our YouTube channel following the service. I look forward to our safe return to in-person services.
Love in Christ,
Team of Stewards
